With television commercials, radio singles and music videos
competing to tell people what they need, it has never been
more important to recognize and return to what matters most.
A message that singer/songwriter Ayiesha Woods, hopes will
penetrate the ears and hearts of her listeners with the release
of her full-length debut Introducing Ayiesha Woods on Gotee
Records. While still in her twenties, Ayiesha brings an energetic
and refreshing sound to music with the polished presentation
of a veteran musician. She explains I dont want to be placed
in one specific category. I think I represent a lot of different
styles of music. My goal is to be able to put out a record
with a sound that has a lot of different things for people
to appreciate at one time.
Introducing Ayiesha Woods does just
that with something for everyone: Rock influenced tracks
like "Big Enough",
and pop-influenced songs like "The Remedy" and "What
Matters Most." The project takes on a worshipful tone
with cuts including "What You Do To Me" and tackles
the universal language of love in the song "The Only
One." Production credits include the likes of Chris
Stevens (noted for his work with Toby Mac, Shawn McDonald,
Paul Wright) Otto Price (noted for his work with Barlow Girl,
Out of Eden, Grits)Co-Production Ric Robbins and David Mullen
(noted for his work with Nicole Mullen).
Born in Long Island, New York in 1979, Ayiesha has lived
in many different cultures including Florida, Georgia, Hawaii,
and Texas. With her childhood also spent being raised in
Bermuda, her unique sound is spiced up with Dancehall and
Caribbean influences. Other influences include Commissioned,
Fred Hammond, Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald, Lauryn Hill
and India Arie. Ayiesha strives to be sincerely transparent
in her own writing, to not only make music, but to move her
listeners.
