02/08/05 BarlowGirl Honored With Four Dove
Award Nominations
Nashville, TN --- February 7, 2005 --- The Christian music
industry’s breakout artist, BarlowGirl, was honored
with four Dove nominations at this morning’s press
conference. BarlowGirl is one of five nominees for New Artist
Of The Year, Rock/Contemporary Recorded Song (“Never
Alone”), Rock Contemporary Album, and Special Event
Album (“Absolute Favorite Christmas”).
“It is such an honor to be nominated with so many
amazing artists,” says BarlowGirl (Becca, Alyssa, and
Lauren). “This has been such an awesome year for us-
filled with one surprise after another! We feel so blessed
that God has allowed us to be apart of what He is doing through
music.”
“We are thrilled that BarlowGirl has received this
prestigious recognition from their peers in the industry,” says
Susan Riley, President, Fervent Records. “BarlowGirl
has had an incredible year and we at Fervent are very proud
of what their hard work has accomplished, not just with sales
and awards, but more importantly with their message of faith
that is connecting so well with female teens across the country.”
Since its release in February of last
year, the self-titled debut CD from BarlowGirl has sold
around 200,000 units and as a result BarlowGirl was the
best-selling new artist of 2004. Their breakout hit single, “Never Alone,” has
been named 2004 Song Of The Year by Radio & Records CHR
chart (stayed at #1 for nine weeks which was the longest
of any other Christian record for the year) and Christian
Radio Weekly’s Rock chart (stayed #1 for fourteen weeks,
again no other Christian song held the top spot that long
on the chart in 2004). “Never Alone” also went
to #1 on the R&R Rock Chart and on the CRW CHR chart
it stayed #1 for ten weeks.
BarlowGirl is booked for a major tour this month when they
will be the opening act for the Christian group, Kutless.
Right now a 25-city tour is scheduled that will start in
Palos Heights, IL on February 18th.
