Burlap To Cashmere Hosts Benefit
2002-01-01 - Critic and fan favorite Burlap
To Cashmere recently hosted an artist showcase in its hometown
of Brooklyn to benefit the families of restaurant workers
who fell victim to Sept. 11's attacks on the World Trade
Center. On Nov. 7 at Arlene's Grocery, just 20 blocks from
what is known as 'Ground Zero', B2C donated their talent
and time to perform for a packed venue of fans and music
industry representatives. More than $1,800 was donated in
response to the tragedy. 'Much tribute has been paid to the
policemen, firemen and office workers, but not much has been
said about those who served every day at the top,' says Burlap
guitarist and vocalist Johnny Philippidis. 'Since most of
the restaurant's staff were of Latin ethnicity like ourselves,
we wanted to honor these heroes, as well.' B2C is currently
in the studio working on its highly anticipated follow-up
to its hugely successful debut, Anybody Out There.
