The Loving Kind Review
Sound like an oversell?? It's not. This album
is one of the best kept secrets in CCM, and has never gotten
it's due. It is unquestionably in the discussion of the greatest
ever. Cindy is masterful as an artist, songwriter, and poet.
I have had the privilege if singing with an accapella group
(In Unity), and got to open up for Cindy on two occassions.
You will not meet a more sincere, down to earth individual,
an incredible presence. She actually mentioned that she was
working with her label to release a follow-up album focusing
on the events surrounding the Resurrection. How any record
company would not roll out the red carpet to make that happen
is beyond me. At any rate, this album is what artistry is
all about. Every song is laden with raw emotion, you are
there. I've led Bible study groups with the lyrics of this
album in one hand and the Word in the other. If quietly,
prayerfully absorbing the flow of "Higher" doesn't
move you, nothing will. This is hands down my favorite balled
from Cindy, maybe with the exception of the melancholy "Job" from
the "Streams" project. (if you don't know, go find
out. when you listen to one track repeatedly, and realize
that an hour+ has just flown by, it's deep) I praise God
for the talents He has shared with Cindy, because the reflection,
the inspiration, is unmistakable. Ken Jones
