Ginny Owens' iTunes Exclusive EP.
12.06.04 - As a prelude
to next year’s
planned live DVD release, Rocketown Records and Ginny Owens
are partnering with iTunes for a live, four-song EP release
that goes up on the site today. Following a year of solid
touring, Owens and her band recorded the tracks during a
DVD shoot in August at the New Orleans House of Blues. In
addition to “Bread,” “I Love the Way” and “Call
Me Beautiful” from her March 2004 release Beautiful,
the Live from House of Blues EP also features Owens’ cover
of the Lenny Kravitz hit, “Let Love Rule.”
“I couldn't be any more excited to be partnering with
iTunes on a project,” said Owens. “I love that
they make music so readily available to listeners, and I'm
one of the many who wouldn't know what to do without my iPod.
Besides all that, we just mixed this EP a couple of weeks
ago—the turn-around time in the digital world is incredible!”
The EP is a sneak audio sample of what
fans will find on Owens’ 2005 live concert DVD, which will include the
full concert performance along with B-roll and interview
footage. Owens adds, “We chose the songs that we thought
would paint a broad picture of what the live DVD will sound
like. There are some fun R&B moments, some intimate piano
moments, and some great band moments. We also chose the songs
we liked best on first listen. When listening to my own live
tracks I can always hear things that make me squirm, but
even I'm pretty happy with how these turned out.”
Owens’ Celebrity Playlist—which features a few
of her favorite tracks from artists such as Keane, Ben Folds,
Norah Jones and Mindy Smith—will go live on iTunes
in January. Her next studio release is expected in October
2005. To learn more about Ginny Owens, please visit www.ginnyowens.com
