Writing On The Wall Review
Jill Phillip's third album showcases a talent
that should be more widely known throughout the CCM scene.
She and her husband, Andy Gullahorn are writing some of the
best lyrics in contemporary music today. Her style is accessible,
but never trite; the music and lyrics are both challenging
and pleasing to the ear.
As in her first album (self-titled)
she never hesitates to be honest with the listener. With
the song title "Buried
Alive" challenging listeners on her first album, "Wrecking
Ball" will do the same on this CD. But effortlessly,
Phillips turns to the quiter side of spirituality with "Even
Still", and "Still is My Soul".
This is an artist who connects with
her listeners by singing what it means to be an "everyday Christian";
not knowing all of the answers, wanting more from her relationship
with God, and bringing us along for the ride.
