Talk About Life Review
It's hard to go wrong with Talk About Life,
the 1989 release that defined Kim Hill as one of Christian
music's top artists. On it, she enjoys the backing of CCM's
top producer, top session players, dynamite songs, and her
distinctive Christie McVie-sounding voice. What's amazing
(and perhaps saddening) is that the album still sounds fresh,
more than a decade later. The catchy "Inside of You" and
the melodramatic "Sneak in the Grass" capture the
full range of Hill's deep vocals. But who would ever imagine
hearing a Mellotron keyboard on "Stop, Watch and Listen," or
the Elvis Presley-like rave "Let's Talk About Life" from
a late 1980s album? The Beatlesque "Turning" confirms
that Hill's musical roots lie in many areas. This musical
potpourri, combined with earnest lyrics, makes for an enjoyable
listen.
