Lifehouse Review
After 2 and a half years of waiting, Lifehouse
makes a return to the music scene with their third album.
In the past, I've often complained about the fact that Lifehouse
is so talented and write such beautiful songs, and yet never
seemed to get any exposure...except ofcourse for the hit "Hanging
By A Moment". But now, with their new single "You
And Me", they seem to be on their way to getting more
recognition. If you haven't heard it yet, it's a great new
song that's gaining some steady momentum in popularity. Rather
than being an energetic pop-hit like "Hanging By A Moment" or "Spin",
this song is a slower, more bitter-sweet song. I think this
song will have a slow start, but in a few months will probably
become a pretty big hit around the country.
This album has plenty more to offer though. The opening song "Come
Back Down" is probably one of the best tunes they've
ever written. "Blind" is also a good one. On the
song, "All In All", I hear an influence of The
Beatles with the way the stringed instruments are used. (In
the liner notes, Jason thanks The Beatles...I assume it was
for inspirational purposes.) Then there's the song "Into
The Sun" which stood out to me...Jason just has a beautiful
way of hitting those high notes. I love Lifehouse's catchy
upbeat tunes, but I think their slow, sad songs are my favorites...mostly
because I can relate to the lyrics so well. One of those
songs is "Walking Away" and is probably my favorite
on the album.
I think "No Name Face" will always be my favorite
Lifehouse album, just because every song was amazing from
beginning to end. "Stanley Climbfall" was almost
dead even with it, but probably fell just a tiny bit short.
I'd say that this new album probably lands even with "Stanley
Climbfall". None of their albums and none of their songs
are bad, some are just more awesome than others. But I'd
say I'm very satisfied with this album, it has all the elements
of Lifehouse that I love. If you enjoyed either of the group's
first 2 albums, I'd highly recommend picking up this one
as well.
