Ever Passing Moment Review
In MxPx's 5th release "The Ever Passing
Moment", the band's members continue to stress the self-righteousness
that differentiates them from the genre's typical whiny,
self-deprecating posture by idealistically titling tracks "Prove
It To The World" and "One Step Closer To Life." The
production is clean, with pop-oriented melodies and zealous
energy, complementing MxPx's thrill seeking, skate/surf fan
base. Most of the tracks do not exceed three minutes and
act like power-chord vitamin megadoses, providing quick,
frenetic rushes of punky lifeblood. The record includes points
of experimentation with waltz ballads and early rock-influenced
riffs, suggesting that MxPx may be venturing into new terrain.
But for the time being, hard-core enthusiasts seeking non-threatening,
copious guitar and drum pageantry should find The Ever Passing
Moment an enjoyable addition to their collection.
