Beach Boys' Tribute Making God Smile streets
07/30
2002-07-18 - Making God Smile, a musical
tribute to the songs of Brian Wilson, will be released in
stores on July 30 by Silent Planet Records. The project features
all-new renditions of some of the Beach Boys and Brian Wilson's
best-known music performed by a variety of artists from just
about every genre of music. Although primarily targeted towards
the mainstream market, many Christian artists have contributed
songs to the project, including Sixpence None the Richer,
Kevin Max & Jimmy Abegg, Phil Keaggy, Randy Stonehill,
Terry Taylor, Phil Madeira, Rick Altizer, Aaron Sprinkle,
Jan Krist and newcomer Derrick Harris. A live Brian Wilson
tribute celebration was also recently held at the Cornerstone
Festival on July 5, and was recorded for an upcoming live
Making God Smile EP. The Making God Smile CD package includes
a 24-page booklet featuring artists' comments about the songs
they contributed to the project, and on Wilson's influence
on their own music. A limited edition double-CD version of
Making God Smile, with 11 additional tracks, can be ordered
now only on the Internet at SilentPlanetRecords.com. Making
God Smile will be distributed by New Day in the CCM market
and by Redeye in the general market.
