Created To Worship Review
Her powerfully emotive
vocals have graced numerous Vineyard recordings over the
years and she has provided two solid releases on her own
Kindred Joy label. "Created
To Worship" is released on the new Floodgate Records,
managed by producer Tim Taber, and is Rita Springer's first
live output. As with Kate Miner, it could be argued that
Ms Springer's passionate vocal style is best suited to a
live recording; certainly she gives her all to provide a
deep and powerful worship
experience which flows from start to finish, a total time
length of 70 minutes plus! Indeed, despite the uniqueness
of each artist, it is impossible to avoid other comparisons
with Ms Miner; both are connected to Vineyard churches in
Southern California, both write their own songs, and both
have recently released stunning live material - Kate's being
the magnificent "Live From The Strip" event. Yet,
of course, while Kate's music is essentially guitar-based,
Rita gives a piano-based performance - thus not quite so
rock-edged.
Rita's repertoire is most interesting
- as well as many of her own God-centred offerings of devotion
such as 'Between Your shoulders', 'Fragrant Offering',
and 'You are still Holy', (which became a big hit for Kim
Hill), this worship leader gives poignant expression to
Mike Larson's 'Freedom Reigns' (from Langley Vineyard's
Gen X "The Well")
and David Ruis' 'No other' as well as, wait for it, Kate
Miner's 'Holy Spirit Come'.
This is gorgeous music, ever-flowing and deeply worshipful.
Created to worship? This lady certainly was, and after an
attentive listen, you'll feel suitably honoured that you
were too!
