Shaun Groves To Headline Fall Tour
Rocketown recording
artist Shaun Groves recently announced his fall tour with
special opening acts Kendall Payne and Jason Morant on
the heels of his third CD’s
No. 1 debut on the SoundScan Christian retail chart. White
Flag, which Groves produced himself, released July 12 and
has quickly garnered immense critical and commercial acclaim.
The album’s 12 songs were inspired by a Bible study
on the Beatitudes that Groves taught as a pastor to college
students at his home church.
Rocketown Records’ President Don Donahue said, “With
the success we've had with ‘Bless the Lord’ at
radio and White Flag at retail, Rocketown Records is excited
to keep the momentum turning this fall with a great tour
package. The White Flag tour with Shaun Groves, featuring
Kendall Payne and Jason Morant is not to be missed. Expect
a LOT more than just great music.”
Groves said, “Kendall Payne inspires
me to make better music. The gears in her head turn at
a different pace than the rest of us, and she sets the
standard for songwriting for many of us who do it for a
living. And Jason Morant's name comes up often on the road
as people after shows tell me about the amazing worship
experience his concerts have been for them. I'm looking
forward to sharing a stage with two people I respect so
much and together ministering while entertaining. The goal
is to come together as a team to move religious people
just like us beyond religion to following Christ. I believe
together we can make people smile, dance, laugh, think
and love a little more. I can't wait.”
Historically, promoters have been thrilled with the music
and teaching that are both a part of a Shaun Groves concert
event:
"Shaun brings home the message
that worship is a verb going well beyond the corporate
Sunday morning experience; its every Christian's active
response to God's grace by serving others. Many in our
faith community have been challenged and drawn into Shaun's
music in a transformative way since he visited Incarnation."
—Becky Benson, Incarnation Lutheran Church, Shoreview,
MN
“Shaun did a phenomenal job in
concert, but more than that in sharing his heart, in sharing
God's Word, and in sharing a challenge to the people of
God.”
—Robbie Evans, FBC Broken Arrow, OK
Born in Tyler, Texas, Shaun Groves
signed with Rocketown Records in 2001 and recently released
his third critically lauded album for the label, White
Flag, his first self-produced effort. ChristianityToday.com
has noted the project is "the
singer/songwriter's best album to date" while JesusFreakHideout.com
is already lauding it as "one of 2005's top releases.” White
Flag topped the SoundScan Christian Retail chart in its first
week of release, marking Groves’ biggest week of sales
to date as well as his label’s first-ever No. 1 retail
achievement. On his past two efforts, Invitation to Eavesdrop
and Twilight, Groves has received seven Dove Award nominations
and five Top 10 radio hits, including No. 1 smash standouts “Welcome
Home” and “Should I Tell Them.” Groves
has previously toured with Bebo Norman, Jars of Clay, Jennifer
Knapp, Michael W. Smith, Avalon, Ginny Owens and Shane & Shane.
Dove Award-winning artist Kendall Payne
will release her sophomore CD, Grown, on September 27 through
BHT Records. The record features the first single, "Stand," written
by Payne's longtime friend Jason Wade of Lifehouse. News
of Payne's return was met with applause from far and wide,
including fellow artists such as Third Day's Mac Powell and
Nichole Nordeman. Says Powell, "Kendall is not only
an amazing artist, but a wonderful person as well. I've been
inspired by her music and the many conversations we had on
tour together. Sign me up as the president of the Kendall
Payne fan club!" Nordeman adds, " One word could
best sum up this gritty, graciously fluid and passionately
hopeful artist ... Hallelujah!"
Vertical artist Jason Morant grew up
grounded in the church, surrounded by a family of talented
musicians. So, it was no surprise that his interest in
music should intersect along the way with a calling to
ministry. Morant brings an eclectic, edgy mix of styles
and textures to his unique sound, influenced by artists
like Keith Green, U2, Rita Springer and David Ruis. Morant’s
critically acclaimed debut album, Abandon, released in
June 2004, and was followed by a tour with Bebo Norman
and Bethany Dillon.
