Stacie Orrico Finds Pop Star Clothing 'trashy'

2004-02-20 - Stacie Orrico, whose mainstream exposure has been increasing, has voiced her opinion about the revealing clothing commonly worn by pop stars such as Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. 'The reason that I don't dress trashy is that I'm trying to set an example for little girls,' Orrico, 17, told reporters in Singapore where she was preparing for the MTV Asia Awards. 'From the time they're 7 or 8 years old, [girls] are being taught that the only thing that makes them special and beautiful is their sexuality, and I think that's wrong. I don't think [those clothes are] sexy. I think [they're] degrading. I think that a truly sexy woman comes from being confident and being classy, respectable and mature.'
