Unfazed Review
When I first heard the Waiting in concert,
they had just released Blue Belly Sky (for the first time).
They halfway filled a local church activity center, and their
concert was fantastic. The energy in their music captured
me, the way they combined godly lyrics with rock music and
jumping excitement. Back then I felt like they had so much
potential, and they just weren't quite living up to it. Their
self-titled album disappointed me so much that I didn't even
buy it. But THIS ALBUM is a different story!
This album is powerful, well written,
and amazingly played. I think that this is the best that
the Waiting has to offer; this is the album to buy and
enjoy. While "Easy to See" is
a bit too cheesy for me, the rest of the songs make up for
this one weakness. "I Am" puts life into perspective,
reminding me where my sufficiency and source truly is. "So
Much of Me" is a wonderful song of thanksgiving and
wonder. "Too Many Miles" is the expression of a
tired soul coming back to the Savior. These are the songs
of life experience as Christians. The music is as fun as
the lyrics are real. Several of the songs are fast and upbeat
enough to be on my jogging tapes.
If you enjoy Christian music that packs a powerful punch
(like Delirious, Sixpence) and you tend to steer clear of
typical CCM music, you should try this album.
